If you are itching to get on the pitch and play some football, why not come to this year’s Interdean 6-a-side tournament? We will be running, kicking and sweating all in the name of the fantastic charity Marie Curie. Why not come and join us for a fun filled day of football, alongside a BBQ, raffle and even a silent auction.
Marie Curie Nurses give free hands-on care to people with all terminal illnesses, either in their own homes or one of the charity’s hospices. By providing vital care and emotional support to people, and their loved ones, Marie Curie helps families to make the most of the precious time they have left together.
No matter where you relocate, football is one sport that you don’t have to worry about giving up. In virtually every country in the world you are almost guaranteed to find a local football team. The game is loved across oceans, borders and by all ethnicities and genders. Football is treasured by (almost) all and it’s no different here at Interdean headquarters.
We have been supporting Marie Curie for many years now. Its work providing care and support to people affected by terminal illness is truly inspiring. We take great pride in supporting such a fantastic cause and helping raise awareness of the work Marie Curie does in our communities. So, when we were discussing how we were going to raise money for Marie Curie last year, we thought we could honour our favourite sport and our favourite charity all in one go.
In 2014 we ran the Interdean 6-a-side Football Tournament, which raised over £8,000 for Marie Curie. We were truly humbled by all those who turned up to support and contribute to the cause. Teams from all over the country came to compete, in the hope of achieving ultimate football glory. Companies, offices and project teams all went head to head in order to separate the premier league from the conference. A fantastic time was had by all and the day was truly a success.
After the triumph of last year, Interdean is excited to announce that we will be holding our 6-a-side tournament again this year. Our plan is to make the tournament bigger and better than ever before, with the hope that we can raise even more money for Marie Curie. Every £20 raised is the equivalent of 1 hour of nursing care! We know that there are so many people out there who enjoy football, but just don’t ever get the chance to play. Perhaps you want to settle a score from last year, or maybe you just want to avoid doing the housework. No matter what your reason, if you love football and you want to play for charity – you definitely need to note down this date in your diary.
On Saturday 16th May 2015, we will all be meeting at Ascot Racecourse to take part in the charity tournament to end all charity tournaments (well, till next year anyway). Even if you don’t want to play, but you just want to cheer on a friend or family member, please come along to our fantastic competition. The more the merrier and a good crowd will encourage the teams to play at their best. So if you have a 6-a-side team that you are rooting for, show up on the 16th May to show your support.
